Entry: does Ben need help? Tuesday, August 19, 2003

Ben posted the following Dan Bern lyric as an away message; "I said all I need is a wide open space to set forest fires in." or something to that effect. When pressed to explain how it is possible to have a forest fire in a wide open space, where presumably there is no forest, Ben got very defensive, downright hostile, and began making paranoid accusations. Could it be that I tapped into some deep well of insecurity and mental imbalance?
If anyone has any ideas, about the song or Ben, let me know.

You don't even know who I am, and I'm going to carry an extra tank of kerosene for Ben, I'm that pissed about your implications. My friend, you have tapped into a deep family connection of mighty pride and mightier retribution.

We're everywhere.

May God have mercy on your poor soul.

i am so going to burn your party to the ground. in fact, from now on, i am going to carry with me at all times a bottle of kerosene and a box of strike-anywhere matches. you wide-open space of a bastard.

Exactly what I was talking about. I think the problem is now evident to everyone, but we're probably going to have to trick Ben into getting treatment. I think we should pretend to have a suprirse party for him, a party that in reality is a psychiatric evaluation.
